Happy Birthday Nora!!!

April 27th, 2009

Hip, hip, hooray… is Nora’s 2nd birthday!

Even though we are only having a small gathering this afternoon with Nora’s grandparents it certainly doesn’t mean that the celebration of Nora’s special day is small. I’ll post more pictures later today but just wanted to put up a quick post in recognition of our amazing, wonderful Super Nora.

Nora’s 2nd Easter

April 17th, 2009

Nora says….Happy belated Easter Everyone!

This Easter Nora was old enough to really get the concept of egg hunting but thankfully not old enough to realize that there is usually candy inside them so she just enjoyed the pure fun of running around outside finding eggs.

Easter fell on Montana’s birthday this year so the day was extra special. Nora happily shared her egg findings with her Daddy. There has been a lot of birthday talk lately around our house with Nora’s 2nd birthday coming up at the end of the month. (10 days from today to be exact ) :) Nora was very attentive to the birthday activities and she is definitely getting excited about her big day.

After hunting eggs at Mammie and Pappy’s, Bunny Nora was off to NeeNee and Papaw’s for a second round of Easter fun casual style.

Mommy sure loves her Bunny Nora! :)

(and don’t worry, Nora’s not eating a nandina berry, that’s just her “humm, I’m thinking” pose)

Happy first day of spring!

Here’s to looking forward to many more sunny days of berry inspecting and short sleeves!

These pictures were taken a couple of weeks ago but I thought it was a good time to post them in celebration of cold season ending soon…..hopefully. No more cold season = more time and interaction with family and friends for Nora. :)

Nature Girl Nora

February 12th, 2009

This past weekend we took Nora to the coast for the very first time. She was instantly drawn to the ocean…..she does have fish oil in her blood. :) Montana and I both grew up in Florida so the beach has always been a big part of our lives so to have Nora experience the sights and sounds of the beach was very special for us. Taking her before now wasn’t very realistic with 24hr/day IV lines, daily surprise blowouts and car sickness. But thankfully the first two obstacles are no longer an issue and since Nora got her big-girl forward facing car seat she seems to tolerate riding much better.

Before now the only bodies of water Nora had seen were ponds with ducks in them. So when we first got there she was a little confused as to why there weren’t any duckies in the ocean. Hey where my duckies at?!?

Nature lover Nora was right at home, running all around exploring the surf for shells and sticks.

Omegaven article in The Boston Globe

January 12th, 2009

In Friday’s Boston Globe an article was featured on the front page about Omegaven. The article focused on a wonderful little girl named Ellie Brogan who is one of Nora’s short bowel comrades.

Click here to read the article

As like many other parents, we first learned about Omegaven through Ellie’s site. As if learning of this life saving drug wasn’t enough, we have also gained so much strength and hope from Ellie’s site since Nora was born. Thank you Brogans for providing such a wonderful sourse of information and sharing your experiences with Ellie’s journy with short bowel syndrom.

If you would like to go to Ellie’s site just click on her name listed under the Short Bowel Blogs menu on the lefthand side of Nora’s homepage.
