Nora Update Email #1

This is the email we sent out when Nora was born. I thought I would archive all these on the blog as well since it helps even us keep things straight.

Hi Everyone,

For anyone who does not know we had Nora Kaylee Thomas via emergency cesarean on 4/27/07. She was 7 pounds 5 ounces and is a beautiful little girl but her small intestine had gotten kinked and they had to do surgery right after birth and removed 95% of it. The small intestine is very important because it is what absorbs all of our food and nutrients. Doctors say the 5% she has left is probably not enough to absorb so we will most likely need a transplant but there are always miracles. At this point Nora is very stable and we finally got to hold her yesterday which was great and a wonderful day but tomorrow we have to put her through more test to see if the surgery worked and if she can absorb anything and to make sure there are no leaks or complications from the surgery. Tomorrow will be a very big day in regards to what will happen next so we could use everyone’s positive thoughts, prayers and love sent our way. Please keep her in your thoughts and think positively that her little intestine will just suck up the nutrients and she will be a miracle baby like we know she is.

We love you all and thank you for your on going support and prayers through all of this. It is what has enabled us to keep going and staying so positive through this hard time.

Love,

Montana, Sarah and Nora

I just wanted to say that I will be praying for your family along with my friend Katrinas family thats son also has short bowel syndrome. Ryan is now 9 months old and has been on the same medication it sounds like your daughter Nora is. The road is a long one ahead, but the reward of the beautiful bably smiling even with all that is going on is amazing. Her father as come up with a way to make the pumps and iv’s work easier than the way the hospital set them up. It takes into consideration the fact that there are other medications that usually are given to the babies. If you want to write please do. patti_tubbs@hotmail.com.
